The Future of Virginia’s Cannabis Industry
As has been proven in many states across America, the formation of a state-regulated cannabis industry in Virginia will prove to be an enormous financial windfall for massive multi-state cannabis operators, opaque-operating Virginia business owners (who are “in-the-know”) and for future State of Virginia tax revenue collections.
However, and importantly, in going through this process, if Virginia lawmakers fail to adopt sincere and dedicated efforts to help revitalize the lives of impacted persons, their local economies, communities and institutions, Virginia’s formation of its cannabis industry will be yet another very painful quagmire, forever marred by historic ghosts of past wrongs she has committed, thereby permanently casting the very lucrative cannabis industry as yet another ugly stain of missed opportunities to do so much good for so many.
What is needed NOW early on in this process, is the creation of a very real – NOT A SYMBOLIC – “Seat at the Table” for directly impacted segments of the community, if Virginia’s efforts to create its cannabis industry is to be fair, balanced, and very positive for ALL Virginians, not just for the privileged few.

Many now fully realize that today’s political environment and process is fraught with dizzying twists, turns, and machinations. The MOST powerful of which is the heavy-handed, far behind-the-scenes influences of big business and big donations to many who are involved in the process.
Often, The Power of the People serves to greatly level a very unfair playing field only if The People are empowered in ways to act as a collective – in the sole interest of The People.
